Surgical Services

Our bariatric surgery services are provided to help with both weight loss and weight maintenance to foster a healthier way of life and eliminate various weight-related health concerns that can put you at great risk. Procedures are often minimally-invasive with relatively quick recovery periods. Our procedures are done to help restrict the amount of food the stomach will hold in order to regulate consumption to help bring the body weight back to appropriate levels.

Procedures we perform include:

Sleeve Gastrectomy – Also called “the sleeve,” this procedure is performed by removing approximately 80% of the stomach so that it holds a smaller volume of food, limiting the number of calories that can be consumed.

Gastric Bypass – This procedure consists of creating a small stomach pouch, dividing the first portion of the small intestine, and attaching the bottom end of the divided small intestine to the newly created small pouch. The top portion of the divided small intestine is then attached to the small intestine further down, so that stomach acids and digestive enzymes from the bypassed stomach and first portion of the small intestine eventually mix with food that is consumed.

Adjustable Gastric Band – Also called “the band,” this procedure involves an inflatable band that is placed around the upper portion of the stomach, creating a small stomach pouch above the band and promoting a feeling of fullness with less food.

Revisional Surgery – Revisional weight loss surgery is performed for patients who have previously undergone bariatric surgery and either experienced complications or did not achieve significant weight loss from the initial surgery.

PH Testing – This test is used to diagnose and properly treat GERD. A capsule is attached to the esophagus and transmits pH readings to a pager-sized transmitter that the patient wears at their waist, and the patient is also asked to write down any times that they experience acid reflux symptoms. A doctor then uses this data to make a diagnosis and recommend treatment, and the capsule will naturally fall off of the esophagus wall after a few days.
